Divorce Certificate

What is the Divorce Certificate

Unlike the other certificates that we have accomplished and are proud of, a divorce certificate proved to be an exemption. And just like all things in life that needs validation, so too is divorce.

A divorce certificate is a one page legal document that states that two people whom were previously husband and wife are now legally divorced. This certificate also means the termination of all direct legal relationships between couples, except those relationships and obligations specified in the divorce decree. These may comprise spousal support, parenting arrangements and support of children, division of property and payment of debts.

And while a divorce certificate can mean the end of a relationship, it can also mean a start of a new one as this record can also be utilized to remarry anywhere in the United States or abroad. As liberating as it may sound, that wouldn’t be true for all couples who have undergone a divorce.

It is interesting to note that while most couples are excited to procure a marriage certificate when they were younger, the same vigor can’t always be said when getting a divorce certificate. While these long lines and waiting periods were overcome with patience and love before, these same long lines and waiting period along with filling out complicated forms can be met with impatience and hate. On top of that, such processes take a couple of weeks to locate the divorce record to certify it and mail it out to you.

Whatever the case may be, a divorce certificate is available at the local government where the divorce came about or the court in the state where the divorce took place. An uncertified copy of a divorce certificate is accessible to those who submit an application. This is an unrestricted document where you can order a copy of anytime.  This will contain the similar information as a certified copy but will not be sufficient for legal purposes such as remarriage. If you wish to remarry, you will have to obtain a certified copy.

A certified copy is the photocopy of the original document that was filed in court and requires a personal identification in order to obtain a copy. Certified copies can also be recovered by contacting your divorce attorney or any 3rd party agencies. These third party agencies can be extremely accommodating, because they know every nook and cranny of the law and know how to process things much quicker than a regular civilian.

Understandably, a divorce certificate can be regarded by many as a representation of a failed relationship. Though it may look like it but if we just try to look into our inner selves we might realize, that after all, it might just be the sign we have been waiting for to truly live our lives and make us truly happy in the end.
